To fans of popular music Andy entertains both the eye and the ear as he magically transforms the steel string guitar into full orchestra via his use of altered tunings, tapping, partial capos, percussive hits and a signature two-handed technique. • The making of Sun-Sounds Music Shop - Malta

It all started with a Guitar Collection and Guitar lessons, we soon pictured the idea of going through a "new business venture". We owned a small cosy place in Sliema, but never seemed to come up with an idea good enough to give it a purpose. We decided that we should use the locality to gather more students within our lesson schedule. Why not right? Work commenced on the place when soon after we came up with this amazing idea of opening up a Vintage and Used instrument shop and launching the idea within the Maltese musician culture. This way we wouldn't always have to go abroad to witness beautifully aged instruments :) Also giving the ability to musicians to display their used music equipment in the shop and we get to earn a small commission O_o ... Brilliant idea to host used, quality, vintage and rare instruments in a local shop. Adding all up to that, there wasn't a shop who was holding such a business structure locally, so we'd be the first :D ... not competing with any other music business is a great opportunity for a startup run by two dumbo's in their early 20's we guessed! Take a look of how the shop came along together between the months of Febuary and August 2014:

About mikebugeja.com Mad about music from the get-go, I've been following the music scene in Malta since childhood. Decades have passed since those early days of collecting newspaper cuttings in a scrapbook, and here I am, all these years later, still as crazy about music as I've ever been. In the interim, I've done everything from being a fan, a roadie, even 'singing' in a few bands (none you would know), a club DJ, a radio DJ/producer, music PR and, for the best part of 20 years, a music journalist (the latter three I still do on a regular basis). That's it in a nutshell. Bearing in mind the positive feedback that my LIB66 website, quite likely the first to be focused entirely on the Maltese music scene, had received back in the days of Geocities, I really should have set up this website a long time ago, but never really got round to it. Well, here it is finally... a website that brings together a good chunk (but not everything) that I've been up to in my life that is related to music, and the Maltese music scene in particular. My first article to be published dates back to May 1996 (The Malta Independent) , when I stepped in to cover for a music journalist who was away on holiday. Since then, in no particular order, I've written for The Malta Independent, Dansezee, Sunday Circle, Modern Elegance, The People and The Sunday Times of Malta, where from October 2007 up to May 2014, I was the resident music correspondent, using my pages to help promote local acts and boost the public's awareness of what goes on within Malta's music scene. This website and M3P.com.mt is where much of my work will now be featured, bar the occasional printed article here and there. Expect some of my past works along with new articles to pop up here along the way. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any feedback..it is always welcome! Radio Show ROCKNA is a weekly Friday evening live radio show presented by Michael Bugeja and broadcast on Radio 101 between 7pm and 8.30pm CET. The show features bands, artists, musicians, promoters and music-related organizations connected to the music scene in Malta. The main focus is rock music, but the show covers most other genres; from electronica and jazz to metal, folk and hiphop. The show often also features live exclusive unplugged sessions. • FENDER FUN FACTS

Leo Fender, inventor of one of the most popular electric guitar brands in the world, Fender Guitars, never learned how to play guitar. In addition to that, he actually was an accountant before losing his job in the Great Depression. When he lost his job, he decided to turn his hobby of tinkering with electronics, radios, amplifiers, and the like, into a business, “Fender Radio and Record Shop”, which eventually led to what is now known as the “Fender Musical Instruments Corporation” and the creation of his now famous guitars and amplifiers. Despite designing the first commercially successful solid-body electric guitar, the Telecaster, and the most influential of all electric guitars, the Stratocaster, and inventing the solid-body electric bass guitar, the Precision bass, Clarence Leonidas “Leo” Fender was an engineer, not a musician and he couldn’t get himself to play a lick of guitar! As such, he had to bring in musicians to properly test out the prototypes of his guitars. Fender’s fascination with electronics started when he was 14 years old. His uncle had built a radio from spare parts and the loud music coming from the speaker impressed Leo. Later, repairing radios became a hobby for Fender.During his college years, Fender studied to be an accountant while continuing to teach himself electronics as a hobby, never taking any electronics courses while in college. For quite some time after graduating, Fender worked as an accountant. After losing his job due to the Great Depression, he opened the Fender Radio and Record Shop in Fullerton, CA where he was able to combine his love of music and tinkering with electronics. Part of the service he offered at his shop was amplifier repair. Bonus Facts: The company created by Leo Fender was purchased by CBS in 1965 for $13 million, which was around $2 million more than CBS payed for the New York Yankees just two years before. The company was later bought from CBS by the employees of the company in 1985 at which point it was renamed the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, which today is the world’s number one manufacturer of stringed instruments with annual sales of around $200 million. Lap guitars were originally developed by Hawaiian musicians and only much later became fixtures of country-western music. Leo Fender was building his amps and guitars for around a decade before rock ‘n roll artists began to popularly use Fender’s instruments. Initially, it was country musicians that first discovered an began popularly using Fender guitars. The Fender Stratocaster is still the most popular and copied electric guitar in the world. Similar to Fender, Laurens Hammond, the American engineer who designed and built the famous Hammond organ and the world’s first polyphonic musical synthesizer had to hire employees with musical background to help to refine and test his inventions as he didn’t know how to play the organ! G&L on another hand is a guitar design and production company founded by Leo Fender, George Fullerton, and Dale Hyatt in the late 1970s. Fender sold his company named Fender in 1965. He designed and produced instruments for Music Man in the 1970s through his company CLF Research. When relations with Music Man soured, G&L was created to continue operations outside of Music Man. The G&L name comes from the initials of George (Fullerton) and Leo (Fender).
