You always get an estimate first. The cost of a repair or restoration depends entirely on the instrument and what it needs. When you bring it in, we examine it, tell you exactly what should be fixed and an estimate of what it will cost.
VINTAGE RESTORATION
Bringing old instruments back to life.
Restoration is some of our favourite work. When you bring in or have a vintage guitar or bass to restore, we give guidance one which parts to buy to replace anything broken — always choosing parts that match the prestige of the instrument, and always recommending which approach to take with you first.
Restoration timeframes are honest rather than optimistic: depending on the damage and how easily you could source the parts, a job can take anywhere from a day to several weeks. The goal is always the same — to return the instrument to its closest original state, or even better.

WHY SUN-SOUNDS
A workshop you can easily get to.
01
Central Sliema — no trek across the island
Most instrument repair workshops in Malta mean a long drive. Our workshop is in central Sliema — walkable from St. Julian's, Gżira, Ta' Xbiex and Msida, and a short hop from Valletta and the north.
03
Quote before work — always
We examine the instrument and tell you the full estimated cost up front. Work only starts once you've confirmed, so you're never surprised by the bill.
05
A full music shop attached
Strings, parts and accessories are all in stock next to the bench — and if you need an instrument while yours is in for work, we rent guitars too.
02
Prices published, not hidden
Our everyday work has clear starting prices — €15 for a string change, €25 for a setup. For bigger jobs you get a firm quote before anything begins. No vague "contact us" runaround.
04
Real vintage experience
From an 1890s parlour guitar to a 1964 Höfner bass, we've restored instruments most workshops never see — and we can guide you on what parts to purchase from across the globe.
06
Twelve years on the bench
Sun-Sounds has serviced hundreds of instruments since 2014. The same team that buys, sells and restores vintage gear is the team setting up your guitar.
