Always an adventure for us capturing photography to make every guitar unique in its own way. This time we spontaneously ended up by the Balluta Bay Valley in Sliema. With the overpowering colours of nature along the beautiful art nouveau architecture backdrop. Such a perfect calm place to showcast this dream of a guitar in a mysterious and dreamy place. 
 
Here we’re glancing at a Gibson Batwing SG Standard, built at the Gibson Nashville plant and dating back to 2005. Construction is typical Gibson SG with the Standard trimmings and a chunky SG neck. The body is a Mahogany slab with a double cutaway design and edge contours, Mahogany neck with a bound Rosewood fingerboard. As seen on this guitar it is one unique SG having figured mahogany almost as if it were a a flamed maple. Some images capture the back and top wood textures which make this guitar stand out from all other SGs that we've had with us at our Sun-Sounds music shop. This guitar has been pre-loved, it has some slight marks of use but nothing that does not add to its beauty. No fret buzz or any serious fret dents and it also comes with the original black Gibson hard case with black interior.

The Gibson Batwing SG made its debut in 1966, with an extended pickguard covering the top above, between and below the strings, and also supporting the pickups. These were produced until 1971, at which point the SG Deluxe replaced it.
 
The SG has been used by many players over the years, and the Gibson Batwing SG is very frequently seen in the hands of the great Angus Young of AC/DC. The large ‘batwing’ pickguard is well suited to an active playing style. It offers significant protection to the finish. And, incidentally, much easier pickup and electronic maintenance.
