Portuguese 1 Mandolin | Vintage Reghin
We’re happy to bring you this restored Portuguese 1 Mandolin, a charming vintage piece originally crafted in the legendary luthier town of Reghin, Romania by Musikinstrumentenfabrik (the historic workshop that became today’s Hora Instruments). Built in the classic “Portuguese” style, this mandolin features a distinctive wide, deep bowl-back body that echoes the traditional instruments of Portugal; delivering warm, rich tones with surprising projection and a sweet, singing sustain. Described simply as the “Portuguese 1,” it’s an authentic slice of Eastern European instrument-making heritage from the late 20th century, when Reghin’s skilled artisans produced affordable yet soulful stringed instruments using fine Carpathian tonewoods.
After careful restoration by the Sun-Sounds team, this vintage beauty is once again ready to charm players and collectors alike. Whether you’re drawn to its historical roots, its unique voice, or simply its beautiful, timeworn character, this mandolin brings a touch of Romanian craftsmanship and old-world musical spirit to the modern stage or studio. A true hidden gem; now lovingly revived and waiting for its next new owners.
