For Sale at Sun-Sounds we have this 98' Gibson Les Paul Standard Double Cut; Born July 8th, 1998. A beautiful and highly playable example from Gibson’s celebrated late-’90s “Good Wood Era,”. This period is revered by many players and collectors for its outstanding tonewood selection, tight quality control, and instruments that deliver rich, resonant, and dynamic tone right out of the factory.
 
Featuring a mahogany body with a flame maple top in a stunning translucent amber/honey burst finish, this guitar showcases the natural figuring beautifully under a gloss nitro lacquer. The mahogany neck carries a comfortable ’60s slim taper profile (approximately .800" at the 1st fret, .915" at the 12th), paired with a rosewood fingerboard, 24 medium frets, and pearl trapezoid inlays. The 24.75" scale length and double-cutaway design provide outstanding upper-fret access while retaining classic Les Paul comfort and sustain.
 
Electronics & Hardware
Equipped with the era-correct Gibson 490R (neck) and 498T (bridge) humbuckers; Alnico V magnets that deliver a balanced, articulate voice with excellent clarity, punchy mids, and singing lead tones. These pickups are known for their versatility: warm and woody cleans, thick crunch, and smooth, harmonically rich distortion without being overly compressed or muddy. A simplified control layout (master volume, master tone, and 3-way toggle) keeps things intuitive and focused on playing.Hardware includes a Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece and chrome tuners; all original and functioning perfectly.
 
Condition & Playability
This guitar is used but in excellent condition for its nearly 28-year age. It has been well-maintained and plays insanely well. The neck is straight, the action is smooth and low, the frets show minimal wear, and the electronics are quiet and responsive. No breakages or dents around the body; the backplate is actually still covered in plastic. You can say that its previous owner was in love with this instrument and treated it well. It has that sweet broken-in feel and enhanced resonance that comes from decades of settling' classic late-’90s Gibson character at its best.
