Jackson Professional AR | 1992

Jackson Professional AR | 1992

We have had the pleasure to find one of these Jackson Dinky models here locally. This on is a Jackson Dinky AR from 1992. It is found to be in a very good condition with a little ding at the top of its pointed headstock which has been professionally shaved nicely to avoid any pointy edges, the guitar has minor marks of use on the body but almost no wear on the frets. It also comes along with its original hard case.

The Jackson Dinky AR is part of the Jackson Professional Series made in Japan at the Chushin Gakki factory. The Jackson Dinky AR was only made in 1992 and features an HSH pickup configuration, an Ash body and a Schaller made Jackson JT-590 tremolo. Other features are the Eastern Rock Maple neck and the Offset pearl dot inlays

The Jackson Dinky is a Superstrat-style double-cutaway electric guitar built by Jackson Guitars. The "Dinky" is named for its slightly smaller than normal (7/8) body size. Usually fitted with a two humbucker pickup configuration, some models (such as this one) also include single-coil pickups and/or just one bridge humbucker. The fretboard can be made out of ebony, rosewood and more recently maple, or rock maple, with 24 jumbo frets and is always built with a bolt-on neck. Most of the guitars have a Floyd Rose original or licensed tremolo, and a locking nut to help maintain stable tuning.

Some Jackson history which is interesting to note:
Until the early 1980s, Grover Jackson worked for the guitar builder and manufacturer Wayne Charvel. Charvel made copies of the Fender Stratocaster and was the first manufacturer with a 24 frets guitar, the "Superstrat".

In 1980, Grover started his own company and focused primarily on building individual customer requirements. One of the first customers was the guitar player of Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads. This became the "RR" model which was based on the Flying V. or Gibson.

Due to the high quality of the Jackson guitars, more and more guitar players, especially from the heavy-metal scene, had a custom-made guitar built at Grover Jackson. This resulted in legendary models such as the King V, Soloist, Concert and Dinky. The guitars were produced in San Dimas, California and later also in Ontario, California.

In 1985, IMC acquired the greatest interest in Jackson and began to devote more time and attention to a more extensive guitar market.

While Jackson still makes top products, Jackson also began to produce cheaper versions of their standard designs in Asia in an effort to make their products more accessible to people with a lower budget.

In late 2002 Fender Musical Instruments Corporation bought Jackson IMC, and American productions were moved to the Fender factory in Corona, California.
